App messaging uses push notification technology available in iOS and Android to provide unlimited free messaging to parents and carers. mySchoolApp now offers either standard messaging or our optional Advanced messaging booster which adds scheduling and one-to-one messaging. For more details on this option click here
To send a message
Select App messaging in the left hand navigation (or click the SEND A MESSAGE button on the dashboard).
Decide if you want to message to go out to the whole school (All users) or to a group or groups. If no groups are displayed you need to create Categories, click here to find out how to do this.
Parents will need to be opted in to receive messages sent to those groups. To help ensure parents are correctly opted in click here.
Type your message (max 200 characters)
Choose a message target, if required. A targeted message can be linked directly to a Document, event or news item published on the app. Parents and carers will be able to tap on the note which will then open the app and take them directly to the linked item. This is ideal for drawing their attention to upcoming events in the school calendar or a school letter.
Click SEND
And... wait for the confirmation!
Messages sent to a large number of users can take a while to process and repeatedly pressing SEND will just duplicate the message on parents' phones.
The default setting to send to All users can be deactivated on request. If the app is used primarily to send messages to individuals, deactivation of the default setting can avoid messages being sent to All users in error. Please click here to request deactivation.
