The app offers schools to ability to define which users can view their app content. Three types are available.
- Visitor
- Self-registered
- Invited
Visitor (optional – school controlled)
Activating Visitor enables anyone to login to view your app without being required to register their details. The app will have limited functionality – no absence notification or push notes.
Limited accessibility - not in common use.
Self-registered (optional – school controlled)
Your app is open to anyone. It is in the public domain, as is probably the case with your school website. Parents/Carers enter your school name and register their details. We verify all user emails to ensure users are who they say they are, for safeguarding purposes and to comply with EU data regs.
Self registration relies on parents/carers proactively searching for and downloading the app and registering.
Invited (optional – school controlled)
Upload a list of users (parents/carers) to the portal and our system will send each one an invitation letting them know you're now using mySchoolApp and asking them to download and login.
If this option is selected and Visitor and Self-registered are left unchecked, only users with an invitation will be able to view your app content. This addresses safeguarding concerns and replaces the need for a password to enter the app.
We know that inviting users will increase take up amongst parents which will make your communications more efficient.
For schools with the MIS integration module, the invitation process is automated.
